Project Sustainability

To achieve project sustainability, SPEED and HKCC will devote to allocating resources for the continuing operation of the immersive VR systems and contents.

  • Further development of VR teaching materials: the immersive VR systems will be extended and equipped with more VR contents in other disciplines, such as engineering, media arts and social sciences. The recurrent expenditure for updating and making VR kits and contents is estimated at $40,000 – 60,000 per year, and we are committed to absorbing the expenditure in the future in order to continue strengthening students’ interactive learning experiences as well as teachers’ professional competencies.

  • Creating synergy in VR content development with other local self-financed institutions: sharing sessions with others self-financed institutions with similar systems will be organised to exchange ideas on teaching and learning in order to bring immersive VR utilisation to the next level. VR kits/ contents will be shared with other self-financing institutions upon request in order to create synergy among other local self-financed institutions.

  • Developing self-supporting/ revenue generating activities after the completion of the 2-year project: foster a range of VR-related short courses for professionals organised by SPEED and HKCC, or other external associations (e.g. The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM); Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TICHK); Hong Kong Association of Travel Agency (HATA); Hong Kong College of Community Health Practitioners (HKCCHP); The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong (CILTHK) to support the operating expenses of the VR systems.

  • Continuous promotion of the quality teaching of VR contents via the official websites and social media platforms of SPEED and HKCC. The hyperlinks and logos of EDB and QESS will be displayed in those promotional materials.
